Rondalet is a 16.1 hand, very elegant mare of modern type, with a feminine look, lovely gaits and has an exceptional pedigree. She is by the stallion Rotspon, out of an elite mare by Donnerhall. As a foal she was named Champion at her inspection and then again in 2008 she became Champion at her mare inspection. In the same year she became the highest scoring Hanoverian mare in the US earning her the Bari Von Buedingen Memorial Award. With a score of 8.16 she also joined a very select group of mares with scores over 8. She has been ridden up through second level.

 

Rondalet comes from the same mareline as the stallions Benetton Dream FRH, Winterprinz, Danone I and P.S.I. auction price highlight horse Der Designer.

 

Rondalet's full sister, Rohanna has moved up to 4th Level and has winning steadily with scores as high as 75%. In 2014, Rohanna was 4th out of 322 horses at 3rd Level in the USDF final standings. She was also 3rd Level Reserve Champion with the American Hanoverian Society.Rohanna was the highest scoring Hanoverian mare in Canada with an overall inspection score of 8.13! She also won the "Best Canadian Bred Mare" award.

 

Rondalet's dam, SPS Donna Lady competed successfully in the mare shows in Germany winning her 1a prize each year she was shown. She was Champion of her mare show and was awarded the coveted "St.Pr." distinction in Germany prior to her importation to Canada. She obtained an overall score of 8 at her Studbook Inspection in Germany and then went on to complete her Mare Performance Test with an exceptionally high overall score of 8.22. Her scores include an 8 for walk, 9 for trot, 9 for canter, 9 for rideability and an 8 for jumping ability. Her total dressage index was an outstanding 8.67! After her Mare Performance Test, Donna Lady went on to compete successfully in dressage. This beautiful and elegant mare shows very good type and conformation along with powerful gaits and a gentle disposition. She has breathtaking movement and her athletic ability is exceptional.

 

Rondalet's sire, Rotspon is another top quality son of the dressage stallion Rubinstein I. He was the sovereign winner of the stallion performance test in 1998, scoring an excellent 148.82 points in the dressage category. Like his father, Rotspon is a very impressive horse with great rideability, outstanding movements and a high ability for dressage. He also has a good jumping technique which is highly above average. He is an elegantly made sire in a noble black coat with a lot of expression and appearance. The first offspring of Rotspon were born in the year 2000. The foals have beautiful heads and good conformation (long sloping shoulder, long well set up neck). They are equipped with a very elastic trot, a ground covering walk and have been very much in demand. At the prestigious Ratje Niebuhr-Show of 2002, Rotspon was the second most successful sire represented with only his first crop. Both the two and three year old classes were won by his daughters, with the two year old becoming the youngest champion in the show's history. Rotspon has begun creating his own branch of the Rubinstein I dynasty with many approved sons and daughters, as well as high-priced auction horses and stellar performance horses. In 2005, Rotspon received a Breeding Value Index of 155 points, with an assurance of 97% heritability, from the German Equestrian Federation. 

 

Rondalet's damsire, Donnerhall was until recently the most successful dressage horse in the world and had an exemplary career. He managed like no other sire of his generation to combine success in breeding and in sport alike. It is nearly impossible to provide a complete survey of Donnerhall's breeding record here, as it would necessitate the writing of a separate book. In Germany alone he has produced over 50 approved stallion sons and more than 35 State Premium Mares. 

 

At the 1998 World Championships in Rome, Karin Rehbein and the 17-year old stallion were once more part of the German gold medal team and gained an excellent fourth place in the individual rating. His sporting successes, substantiated by his life winnings of around DM 640,000 are no less significant than his importance as a hereditary transmitter. His breeding tally includes 77 approved sons, while of the more than 450 registered mares, 84 were awarded the state premium, including the champion mares Primavera and Hallo. In excess of 300 progeny have moreover been registered as sports horses. Donnerhall's last public appearance under his rider Karin Rehbein at the gala evening of the 1998 Oldenburg approval, where children with lanterns formed a narrow passage through which Donnerhall strode magnificently, remains a warm and unforgettable memory. From that time onwards, he only fulfilled his duties as a sire at the Grunwohldhof, where his remarkable career had begun.
